Gorgeous Lavendar fields can be seen all around the world, when I think of them for some reason France came to mind. When I looked into it, I found there are amazing, picturesque fields all over. Did you know that we have some pretty fields right here in the PNW? Well, we do! Sequim is known as the Lavendar Capital of North America. Visiting these farms can be relaxing and fun, but how about planning your next photo session among these purple buds? I am going to make a list of some of the Lavender Fields Near Seattle.
Time of day matters a lot in photography. The position of the sun can create harsh shadows and bright spots, or it can create warm glows and beautiful soft backlighting. Whenever you are booking a photo session regardless of what it may be if it is outdoors get your photographer’s input on the time of day! Lavendar field seasons near Seattle begin at the end of June, peak in July, and harvesting typically happens in August. This means that lighting during the late morning, middle of the day, and even into early evening may be harsh due to the sun being high in the sky. Choosing an early morning session or a sunset session will offer the best light for your photos. It may also offer better temperatures so it’s not so hot! No melting make-up around here!
Bees. Bees, and more bees. Okay, I have visited two of the farms from the list mentioned above and countless other gardens and the bees have never been an issue. Leave them alone, they typically leave us alone. However, if you are afraid or allergic to bees then a Lavendar field may not be the place for your photo session. They have had more bees than any other flower field or gardens I have visited. With that said children if temperamental around bees may not be a good fit. Some Lavendar fields near Seattle may only allow photography during certain business hours or with an additional fee. If these purple fields are a must for you then talk to your photographer (or me) about setting it up.
On a fun note, a lot of these farms have shops where you can purchase all the Lavendar yumminess of your dreams. This can be fresh cut flowers, dried flowers, soaps and oils, and even ice cream and chocolate. Lavendar ice cream is one of my favorites and I could make a whole blog post just about that!
What to wear to your Lavendar field photo session…? Pinterest can help with this, or there is me. I like to look up Lavendar fields and see what inspires me. White summer dresses and trendy hats look great! Pale yellows and blues are flattering. This can mean some light-colored denim for boys and guys. Lavendar on Lavendar looks dreamy. This is what I styled for the girl to wear in my couple’s session last summer. I would suggest staying away from overly bright or patterned clothing.
If Lavendar flowers as far as the eye can see sounds romantic and breathtaking to you, then planning a photo session at one of the Lavendar Fields Near Seattle may be perfect! As I mentioned I have visited two of the farms on the list above and both were delightful. Pelindaba Lavendar Farm in Friday Harbor made me feel like I was somewhere completely different. It was quite large and had the rolling fields of purple. They also had the cutest storefront where my Hubby bought me a glass Lavendar bud necklace. I highly suggest visiting them on your next trip that way.
If you are considering a Lavendar photo session, let’s chat! I cannot wait to head out to these flower fields again.
